A Bostonian in Boston!

Happy new year! 2010 was an amazing, eye-opening, romantic, life-changing experience filled with laughter, love, learning, challenges, great friends and family. Excited and hopeful for 2011.

WORDS TO LIVE BY
  • Live fearlessly
  • Welcome change and all adventures
  • Consume less, save more
  • Be creative—make more
With much love and support from my friends and family, I've had a great year and have learned much. It wasn't without its challenges, but everyday I wake up thankful, especially for my family (and for close friends who I think of as family) and for R, who has been so amazing and supportive.

  • It took me a while, but I finally started this blog and have been enjoying writing it and taking photos
  • I learned a new way of life, and a new language, and am making new friends while holding onto dear old ones
  • I traveled, and saw a glacier, Roman ruins, Mont Blanc, and swam in thermal springs
  • I am spending more time outdoors in nature, whether it's hiking or gardening and growing my own vegetable garden. I hiked and walked more than I have ever done in one year. Of all the shoes I brought with me, the one I wear over and over again are my almost worn out Hi-Tec hiking boots
  • Instead of consuming, I am creating more. I love dining out, but with easy access to fresh local ingredients, I am cooking a lot more these days, and improving my cooking abilities
  • I thought, reflected, meditated, and slept a lot
  • I finally learned how to drive a manual transmission, thanks to my R
  • I attended one of my best friend's weddings and congratulated many other friends who got married and/or had babies or moved for new experiences
  • I learned a lot about macarons, then about mushrooms. I ate wild mushrooms I foraged with the local mushroom club and am still alive
Best wishes in 2011. Meilleurs vœux.

  1. What a year! Only a handful of people will ever get a chance like yours; an even smaller handful will ever appreciate it. Keep up your inspiring journey!

  2. Thanks Cyndi! I feel extremely lucky to be having this experience. Since you've had a similar journey, where should I travel? What should I eat?
